Orybal,

To install wicd, I followed the instructions here:

http://wicd.sourceforge.net/download.php

If your installed failed, check out the FAQ page. At the very bottom of FAQ page, there are instructions on how to manually reinstall network-manager:

I had problems with Kubuntu 8.04 because it ask to remove network manager cause is not compatible with and after downloading of WICD there’s missing repositories to download online but without NM… how do you download them?
How do you sort it out?
Where I find before delete NM, the missing WICD repositories?

Johan,

After I installed Ubuntu Eee 8.04, the webcam and wifi worked without any scripts. If you are going to install the regular Ubuntu 8.04, you'll probably need to tweak a few things to get the webcam and wifi working. Check out the eeeuser.com wiki for tips on installing Ubuntu: http://wiki.eeeuser.com/getting_ubuntu_8.04_to_work_perfectly

Glad you liked it. It was actually Dave from lottalinuxlinks.com who turned me onto it, and I find it indispensable now myself!
