Hardy Upgrades
So far, I’ve upgrade three Ubuntu workstations and two servers to Hardy Heron 8.04. Of those five upgrades, I only had problems with one of the workstation upgrades. The other workstation and server upgrades were painless. The workstation upgrade I had a problem with was due, I think, to my Nvidia video driver. I ended up doing a clean install instead of taking the time to track down the problem.
The server upgrades were effortless. I did one upgrade remotely via SSH and during the other upgrade I was logged into a console locally. One upgrade was from 7.10 and the other was from 6.06. I was expecting the 6.06 to 8.04 upgrade to go horribly wrong and I had a 8.04 Server CD standing by to do a clean install, but it went off without a hitch.
If you haven’t upgraded to 8.04 yet, I would suggest taking the plunge. But, always remember to first back up!
